Troop 940 is chartered by St. John Parish of West Chester. We are part of the Ft. Hamilton District of the Dan Beard Council of BSA. We meet on Thursday nights from 7:00p to 8:30p at the St. John Center.

National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association's Youth Shoot - July 6-7, 2013

Troop 940 will once again be joining the NMLRA Youth Shoot this summer and camping at the NMLRA camping facilities.

The annual National Youth Shoot, which primarily draws its participants from Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky will be July 6-7, 2013. There are 8 shooting disciplines offered during this weekend and participation is between 150 and 300 shooters. In addition to shooting, other events such as candle dipping, tomahawk throwing, bead making, etc. are offered to the kids. 2013 will be the eleventh anniversary for this event.

Flags Over West Chester!

Troop 940,

Do you want to help serve the community while earning money for your Scout Account? It is time once again for Flags Over West Chester. If you are new to the troop, please see the attached flyer for more details. In summary, we post flags at houses around our community on the six major flag holidays in exchange for a $30 donation. The funds from the donations are split amongst the Scouts serving. We have averaged $250 - $300 / Scout over the past 5 years. If you are interested in participating this year, please respond by 5/1, so that I can get the routes organized. There will be a meeting of all involved Scouts on 5/9 at the Troop Meeting. Please plan to attend if you are planning to participate this year – parents & Scouts. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Summer Camp June 15-22; 2nd $100 payment due 3/21

Hello Troop 940 Summer Campers!

Thanks to everyone who has signed up and made their first payment already. The second payment of $100 is due by our March 21^st Troop Meeting.

Attached is a listing of the 54 campers who have signed up for camp so far – Scouts and Adults. If you don’t see your name and are planning on going to summer camp, please contact me right away; we’ll continue to add newly joined Troop 940 Scouts as they cross over as well. I’ll be hosting another ‘All About Summer Camp’ information session for new parents at the March 14^th Troop meeting, with more information about gear, activities, travel, and final costs.

Philmont Trip 7/25-8/8 Final Philmont Payment & airfare payment due

The next round of payments for Philmont is due. I talked to Mr. Hall, and
we think that we can collect for the shuttle later, to help spread the
payments. Based on what he is finding, we are recommending that everyone
send in $300 / person for air fare. After Mr. Hall finalizes, we will give
everyone the final number. So, please, by 2/14, send in / arrange by Scout
account with Mr. Glenn:

- $335 / person - Final Philmont Payment
- $300 / person - Airfare.

Nate is finding some pretty decent looking air fares, especially with the
Frontier announcement today - so if he can find a good fare, we want to be
able and get the tickets.
